Our Vitreoretinal Surgeons, Dr Kenneth Fong and Dr Manoharan Shunmugam from OasisEye KL and Dr Teh Wee Min from OasisEye Seremban recently attended Asia Pacific Vitreoretina Society (APVRS) annual meeting in Taiwan from the 18-20 November 2022. They all shared valuable insights alongside other ophthalmologists from all around the world.
OasisEye Specialists KL team of optometrists and healthcare assistants carried out charity eye screening for the public and senior citizens today This was done together with Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament, YB Fahmi Fadzil team and Yayasan Kebajikan Insan Malaysia. More than 100 patients were seen and screened for eye diseases such as myopia, glaucoma, cataract, dry eyes, diabetic retinopathy and age related macula degeneration (AMD). We are grateful to be able to contribute to the community and promote eye care awareness among the public, and hope to do more of such activities in the future.
Thank you to Waspada Online, one of the largest print and online media in Indonesia, for doing a special feature on us! We are happy to be able to spread awareness on our comprehensive eye care services, including our TransPRK treatment that has helped so many of our patients live their life free from glasses. We hope to help more Indonesian patients with their eye-related problems in Malaysia!

OasisEye JB will be organizing an Anterior Vitrectomy workshop on 1st April 2022 (Friday). Vitreoretinal Surgeons, Dr Teh Wee Min, Dr Ling Kiet Phang, and Refractive Surgeon, Dr Chan Choon Teng will be sharing their tips on performing anterior vitrectomy.

October is a very significant month for all eyecare providers as we observe the annual World Sight Day, which falls on the second Thursday of every October. The theme of this year’s World Sight Day is “Love Your Eyes”, as we all should. In September, we concluded our National COVID-19 Vaccination Centres at our Kuala Lumpur, Seremban and Johor Bahru branches, and have successfully administered over 9,000 doses of vaccines. We would like to publicly thank everyone who contributed, including our nurses, doctors, optometrists, and volunteers.
We also welcome two new team members to the OasisEye family – Mr Dharan and Ms Vinodhini, who are our ocularist and low vision specialist respectively. In this edition of Eye Q, we talk about an unfamiliar topic to most – Ocular Prosthetics or artificial eyes.

Dr Manoharan Shunmugam is an invited speaker at the Vitreoretinal Surgery Masterclass organized by MUCCO . He will be speaking on Paediatric Vitreoretinal Surgery. He is one of the few surgeons in the Asia Pacific Region who manages complex paediatric retinal diseases.
We are delighted to announce that Dr Teh Wee Min has been selected for the Vision Academy 2021 two-year mentorship program.
He is one of only 6 mentees selected from around the world to participate in this 2-year program beginning 2021.
The mentorship program will support the Vision Academy in reaching its goals to build best practices and lead the wider community in the drive towards optimized patient care and, more significantly, help to develop the next generation of retina specialists.
