Dr. Manoharan Shunmugam is a consultant ophthalmologist and adult & paediatric vitreoretinal surgeon who completed his medical training in the United Kingdom before returning to Malaysia. He has a strong interest in clinical research and has published in a range of peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals. He is also a contributing author to two vitreoretinal reference textbook chapters and has been invited to speak at international ophthalmology conferences. After graduating in Scotland, he completed his Ophthalmic Specialist Training and Vitreoretinal (VR) Fellowship in London. He further expanded his expertise through a Paediatric Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India.

Dr. Manoharan is the past President of the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology (MSO), a founding council member of the Asia-Pacific Paediatric Retina Association (APPREA), and a member of the Asia-Pacific Vitreoretinal Society (APVRS) and the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO).
