Dr. Vanitha Ratnalingam earned her medical degree (MD) from Universiti Sains Malaysia and her Master of Surgery in Ophthalmology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She completed her advanced subspecialty Fellowship in Cornea and External Eye Diseases at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. Vanitha won the prestigious international Troutman Prize for Innovation in Corneal Science from the International Cornea Society in Chicago. She also performed the first automated endothelial keratoplasty (cornea transplant) in Malaysia and holds multiple Excellent Service Awards from the Ministry of Health. Dr. Vanitha specializes in advanced treatments for the front of the eye. Her core clinical practice includes managing keratoconus, corneal infections (microbial keratitis), dry eye syndrome, pterygium, corneal dystrophies, and complex cataracts.
Dr. Vanitha is highly experienced in micro-surgical anterior segment interventions. She performs advanced cornea transplants (including PK, DSAEK, and DALK), corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) for keratoconus, and pterygium excision using autologous conjunctival autografts.
